About the Position

The selected attorney will manage an active misdemeanor and felony criminal defense caseload, handling cases from initial client consultations and arraignments through pretrial motions, plea negotiations, contested hearings, and trial.

You will work directly with clients, courts, detention facilities, and our legal support team to ensure cases are handled professionally, efficiently, and with a strong commitment to client advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct client consultations and provide ongoing case updates in both English and Spanish without the need for an interpreter.
• Manage an active caseload of misdemeanor and felony criminal cases.
• Appear regularly in Tarrant County criminal courts, municipal courts, and detention facilities.
• Draft motions, briefs, and legal memoranda related to criminal proceedings.
• Negotiate plea agreements and handle contested hearings, evidentiary hearings, and jury trials.
• Develop case strategies and advocate for clients throughout the criminal proceedings.
• Maintain organized case files and communicate effectively with legal support staff.
• Provide professional, compassionate, and responsive representation to clients navigating high-stress legal matters.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Active license to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken, is required.
• Applicants of all experience levels are encouraged to apply, including newly licensed attorneys. Prior criminal litigation experience is welcome but not required; we are willing to train and mentor the right candidate who demonstrates strong work ethic, professionalism, a commitment to learning, and a genuine interest in criminal defense.
• Strong working knowledge of Texas criminal law, criminal procedure, and local court systems.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong courtroom advocacy and legal research skills.
• Demonstrated professionalism, empathy, and commitment to client service.
• Reliable transportation for regular travel to local courts, jails, and meetings.
• Immigration and personal injury experience is a plus.
